Why El Segundo Homes Need Expert Hydro Jetting

The El Segundo Challenge

El Segundo's original housing stock from the 1950s–1960s frequently contains galvanized steel supply lines nearing end-of-life. The city's municipal water supply, sourced from West Basin and MWD blends, carries moderate-to-high mineral hardness that accelerates scale buildup inside water heaters and fixture connections. Whole-home repipes and water softener installations are among the most common plumbing projects Paragon performs in El Segundo.

The Paragon Solution

Paragon Home Services has served El Segundo homeowners since 2007 — 18+ years of hydro jetting & drain clearing experience specific to the South Bay's unique construction era, climate, and infrastructure challenges. Every project is managed by licensed, W-2 technicians with the tools and expertise your home deserves.

Our Hydro Jetting Process

  1. 1

CCTV camera inspection pre-jetting — we assess the pipe condition before introducing high pressure. Severely deteriorated pipe (cracked, collapsed) cannot be safely jetted and requires lining or replacement first.

  2. 2

Nozzle selection — rotating, penetrating, and root-cutting nozzle types are selected based on the obstruction type: grease, scale, roots, or a combination.

  3. 3

High-pressure jetting at 2,000–4,000 PSI from downstream to upstream — the pressurized water scours the pipe walls from every direction as the hose advances, flushing debris to the downstream cleanout.

  4. 4

Post-jet CCTV camera inspection confirms clear flow, full pipe diameter, and identifies any damaged sections revealed by the cleaning.

  5. 5

Written flow-rate report documenting pre- and post-jetting pipe condition — useful for insurance documentation after a backup event.

Hydro Jetting — Frequently Asked Questions

Will hydro jetting damage my old clay or Orangeburg pipe?
This is exactly why we camera-inspect before jetting. Cracked or structurally compromised pipe cannot be safely hydro jetted — high pressure can worsen fractures. If the camera reveals pipe that cannot withstand jetting, we will recommend the appropriate repair method (CIPP lining or pipe bursting) before any high-pressure work is done.
How often should I jet my main sewer line?
Homes with active tree roots over the lateral, older clay pipe, or heavy kitchen grease use benefit from jetting every 2–3 years as a preventive measure. Homes without these risk factors may go 5+ years. We provide a written recommendation based on what we find in the post-jet camera inspection.
Can jetting remove tree roots?
Yes. Root-cutting nozzles operating at high pressure can remove root intrusion from the interior of the pipe. However, jetting does not address the underlying structural gap or crack that allowed root entry. If the camera shows root infiltration, we recommend CIPP lining after jetting to seal the entry points and prevent recurrence.
What is included in the quoted price?
Our standard main line jetting package includes: full pre-jet CCTV camera inspection, jetting of the lateral from cleanout to city connection, post-jet camera inspection, and written report. Camera inspection is included — we don't add it as a separate charge after the fact.
