III.PROCESS

How an AV Project Runs With Paragon

1. 1

Consultation — we walk the home, talk through how you listen and watch, and mark candidate speaker, television, and equipment locations room by room.

2. 2

System design — our AV partner specifies speakers, amplification, sources, and control while we map cable routes, outlets, and any access openings needed.

3. 3

One fixed proposal covering equipment, low-voltage wiring, electrical work, drywall repair, and calibration, scheduled around any remodel already underway.

4. 4

Rough-in — speaker cable, brackets or back boxes, recessed television power and cable kits, and dedicated circuits for the equipment location are installed.

5. 5

Finish installation after paint — speakers and televisions mounted, equipment racked and wired, and every access opening patched, textured, and touched up.

6. 6

Tuning and training — each zone balanced and tested, streaming accounts and remotes set up, and a walkthrough so the household can actually run it.

VI.FAQ

AV & Whole-Home Audio — Frequently Asked Questions

How much does whole-home audio cost in the South Bay?

A single room with a pair of in-ceiling speakers and a streaming amplifier typically costs about $1,200 to $3,000 installed, depending on speaker quality and how difficult the cable route is. Four to six zones through a house commonly land between $8,000 and $25,000. Dedicated theaters and centralized systems with custom control run higher. Zone count, equipment grade, retrofit versus pre-wire, and the amount of patching afterward are the variables that move the total. Paragon issues a fixed, itemized price once we have walked the property.

Can in-ceiling speakers go in without tearing up my ceilings?

In most homes, yes. Each speaker sits in a round or square cutout that its own grille covers, and where there is attic space above, cable drops in without any additional openings. In two-story rooms or spaces with no attic above, installers use fish tape and flexible bits to travel inside existing cavities, and occasionally one small access hole is needed at a blocked joist or a fire block. When that happens our crew patches, matches the texture, and touches up the paint so the repair is not something you notice later.

Is a Sonos-style system or a wired central system better?

Streaming amplifiers like Sonos are the right answer for most homes: easy to use, easy to expand one zone at a time, and a good match with in-ceiling speakers. A centralized wired system makes more sense when you want many zones, a keypad in every room, integration with a whole-home controller, or absolutely no equipment visible outside a closet. Plenty of houses end up hybrid, with streaming handling sources and a rack holding the amplification. We help you decide based on zone count and how you plan to control it.

Can you mount a television above a fireplace and hide the wires?

Often, with two caveats. First, heat: a gas or wood-burning firebox can drive mantel temperatures past what a television manufacturer allows, so we check the surround and the firebox type before committing, and a deeper mantel shelf helps. Second, viewing angle, which a pull-down mount solves by bringing the screen to eye level for watching. For concealed wiring, code does not permit a standard extension cord inside a wall, so we install a listed in-wall power kit or a new receptacle behind the screen, with low-voltage cables routed separately to the equipment.

Should I pre-wire for audio during my remodel?

If walls or ceilings are going to be open, yes. Pre-wiring costs far less than retrofitting and lets speakers, screens, and equipment sit exactly where they belong instead of where cable can reach. Even with no speakers purchased yet, cable stubbed to likely zones, a television wall or two, and the patio keeps options open for years. Because Paragon also performs the remodeling work, we can slot the AV rough-in between framing and drywall so it never becomes the reason your project slips.

Do outdoor speakers survive this close to the beach?

They can, with the right selection. Outdoor-rated speakers have weather-resistant cabinets and grilles, but homes within a mile or two of the water in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach sit in salt air that corrodes ordinary brackets and bare wire connections. We specify speakers built for harsh exposure, stainless or coated hardware, sealed connections, and placement under eaves wherever the layout allows. For backyards where visible boxes are unwelcome, landscape satellites with a buried subwoofer spread sound evenly without anything mounted on the house.
