Construction on a same-footprint kitchen generally runs about six to ten weeks once demolition starts, and longer when a beam or relocated plumbing is involved. Cabinet and appliance lead times are the most common source of delay, which is why we order before demolition rather than after. You get a written schedule with the proposal and an update whenever an inspection or delivery date moves.

Do I need a permit to remodel a kitchen in Torrance or Redondo Beach?

In almost every case, yes. Painting or swapping a faucet does not require one, but adding circuits, moving plumbing or gas lines, removing a wall, or installing new hardwired lighting typically does. Torrance, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, and the other South Bay cities each run their own building departments, while unincorporated pockets such as Del Aire and Lennox go through LA County Public Works. Unpermitted kitchen work tends to surface during a sale or an insurance claim. Paragon prepares the submittal, pulls the permit, and schedules the inspections as part of the project.

Can I remove the wall between my kitchen and living room?

Usually, but it depends on what the wall carries. In many single-story South Bay ranch homes that wall supports ceiling joists or roof framing, so opening it requires a beam sized by an engineer, posts carried to adequate footings, and a structural permit. Walls also hide plumbing vents, ductwork, and gas lines that have to be rerouted. We look at the attic framing and at what runs through the wall during the site visit, then tell you honestly whether the opening is straightforward, workable with a dropped or flush beam, or more expensive than the result is worth.

Can we live at home during a kitchen remodel?

Most families do. We seal the work area with plastic barriers and zipper doors, protect floors along the path to the kitchen, and keep water and power on to the rest of the house except during short, scheduled shutoffs. Expect several weeks without a working kitchen, so many clients set up a temporary station with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker in the garage or dining room. If the kitchen is part of a bigger project that also takes out bathrooms or flooring throughout the house, moving out for part of the work may be easier, and we will say so.
