When should I book holiday lighting installation?

Book as early as you can. Holiday lighting crews schedule installs on a first-come basis, and the weeks before Thanksgiving and the first half of December fill up fast. Booking in September or October gets you the widest choice of install dates, and many homeowners have lights up in mid-to-late November so they're on for Thanksgiving weekend. Will installing holiday lights damage my roof or gutters?

Not when it's done correctly. Most roof and fascia damage from holiday lights comes from nails, staples, and screws that leave holes for water to get in, or from people walking on tile roofs without the right footing. Paragon installs with clips made for each surface: gutter clips, shingle tabs, and ridge and tile clips. Everything comes off cleanly at removal. Our crews follow roof safety practices and take extra care on the clay and concrete tile roofs common across the South Bay, where a misplaced step can crack a tile.

When do you take down Christmas lights?

Removal typically happens after New Year's, with most takedowns scheduled in the first few weeks of January. We set your removal date when you book, so you don't have to call and ask. If you want lights left up for a later event or taken down earlier, just tell us. During removal, the crew takes every clip off, checks each strand, labels it by location, and either leaves the fixtures with you or takes them to storage for next season, depending on your plan.

Can you store my holiday lights until next year?

Yes. Off-season storage is part of our holiday lighting service. After removal, fixtures are tested, damaged sections are noted, and every strand is labeled by where it goes on your home, whether that's the front roofline, the garage peak, or the oak by the driveway. Everything is kept together until the next season. Because the lights are already cut and fitted to your home, the next install goes faster, and you don't have boxes of tangled strands taking up space in the garage.

Do you use LED lights, and will they overload my outlets?

Yes, we use commercial-grade LED lighting. LEDs draw far less power than incandescent strings, so a full display usually runs from the existing exterior outlets. Before installing, we map each run to the outdoor circuit it will use and keep every run within that circuit's capacity. All power goes through GFCI-protected outlets with weather-sealed connections. If a design needs more power than the home's exterior outlets can supply, we'll tell you up front and can scope an added outdoor circuit with a licensed electrician.
