Our Painting Process

Complete surface protection — floors are covered with rosin paper and canvas drop cloths (not plastic, which shifts and tears). Furniture is moved to room centers and wrapped. Fixtures are masked.

Surface preparation — all nail holes, cracks, and imperfections are filled with joint compound or spackle, sanded smooth, and spot-primed. All trim-to-wall and ceiling-to-wall transitions are caulked with paintable latex caulk.

Full primer coat on new or repaired surfaces — PVA primer is applied to all new drywall and repaired areas. Spot priming is applied to all spackled points on painted walls.

Ceiling first — ceilings are rolled with a flat finish (Sherwin-Williams Ceiling Paint or Emerald flat) before any wall painting begins, minimizing roller splatter on finished walls.
