I.OVERVIEW
Properly waterproofed. Lippage-free. Built to last.
Tile work is one of the most failure-prone trades because most of the work that determines longevity — substrate prep, waterproofing, mortar coverage — is invisible after the grout dries. Paragon installs tile to TCNA standards with Schluter Kerdi waterproofing on every wet area, large-format-rated mortars, and laser-leveled lippage control. We do bathroom showers, floors, kitchen backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, and natural stone.
II.WHY IT MATTERS
Drywall behind shower tile is not a substrate — it's a moisture sponge. Proper waterproofing requires cement board with a Kerdi or RedGard membrane, or a foam panel system like Wedi or Kerdi-Board. We default to Kerdi sheet membrane on every shower, taped at corners and penetrations.
Industry standard requires 80–95% mortar coverage on the back of every tile (depending on wet/dry application). Most bargain installs hit 30–50%. Voids behind tile are where water collects, where freeze-thaw fails, and where impact cracks originate. We back-butter every tile and verify coverage.
Lippage — height differences between adjacent tiles — is the visual signature of a bad job. Large-format tiles (anything over 15 inches) need leveling clips and a properly flat substrate. We laser-check substrate flatness before setting and use clip-and-wedge systems on every large-format install.

VI.THE PARAGON DIFFERENCE
The Work
Bathroom tile, kitchen backsplash, floor tile, natural stone, and tile repair.
The Paragon Difference
Schluter waterproofing on every wet area, proper substrate prep, and laser-leveled lippage — not the bargain mud-set jobs that crack and leak in five years.
